Neue U.S. customs regulations: Temporary restrictions on postal goods shipments to the USA for private and business customers

DHL has informed us of the following today:

As of the end of August 22, Deutsche Post and DHL Paket will temporarily no longer be able to accept or transport international parcels and merchandise mail from business customers to the USA.

  • The Executive Order "Suspending Duty-Free De Minimis Treatment for all Countries" by the USA changes the basis for postal shipment of goods to the USA for all postal and parcel service providers
  • As of the end of August 22, Deutsche Post and DHL Paket must temporarily suspend the acceptance and transport of business customer parcels and merchandise mail to the USA via postal service
  • Shipping goods via DHL Express remains possible
  • Small parcels and packages that contain only gifts from private individuals to private individuals with a value of up to 100 US dollars and are also declared as "gift," as well as documents, can continue to be sent as usual
